HC Lugano is seeing quite some turnover among their imports. With quite a number of them leaving, new ones are bound to join - one of them is Mike Sgarbossa. He is joining on a two-year deal.
"Mike Sgarbossa is a center with playmaking skills and a lot of experience", team manager Janick Steinmann notes. "He is a talented and characterful player who fits very well with our team and the National League. I look forward to having him with us."
Lugano will be the 32-year-old's first station outside North America. Growing up playing junior hockey in Canada, the forward has spent most of his career in the AHL so far. He stands at 641 games, with 171 goals and 315 assists. Besides that, he has appeared in 93 NHL games over the years, recording nine goals and 16 assists.
Sgarbossa's most recent team was the Hershey Bears (since 2018), AHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals. Two years ago, he won the Calder Cup with them.
