Melvin Nyffeler extends his contract with the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers

“Melvin is one of our key players and an important part of our team, not only on the ice but also in the locker room,” team manager Claudio Cadonau said. “Over the years, he has proven that he is one of the most consistent goalies in this league.”

The new deal of the 30-year-old goaltender is for two seasons. His original contract would have expired at the end of the upcoming season. Nyffeler will start his tenth full season with the Lakers this September. 

Last season, Melvin Nyffeler appeared in 33 regular-season games, posting a .914 save percentage. In the postseason, he was in the net for two games and recorded a .902 save percentage.
