A lot of speculations have gone around in the last few days about who might replace GIaninazzi as HC Lugano's head coach. But, as it turns out, it is not Greg Ireland or Stefan Hedlund - but Uwe Krupp. He has most recently been employed by the Kölner Haie.
After a long career as a defenseman in the NHL, the German started his coaching career with his country's national team in 2004. First with the U20, he quickly moved up to the men's squad and led them until 2011. He then switched to club coaching, with a first stint in Cologne, followed by the Eisbären Berlin, Sparta Praha, and eventually the Haie again.
As for Krupp's supportive staff with the Bianconeri, that matter is still in the works but is expected to be finalized in the coming days.
