The search for Andy Andreoff's injury replacement did not take very long - a Swede is completing the champions' import squad.

Pontus Åberg has found his next Swiss team - after the SC Rapperswil-Jona and EHC Kloten, the forward is now part of the ZSC Lions, at least until the end of the year. From the club's side, this move has been made to compensate for the injury-related absence of recently-acquired Andy Andreoff.

"With Pontus, we have signed a forward who has already proven himself in Switzerland", team manager Sven Leuenberger states. "We were specifically looking for a forward who we could use in power play and box play. He also has a 'scoring touch', which he has demonstrated many times in Rapperswil and Kloten. What is more, he will not need any time to settle in, as he already knows the Swiss league and Zurich very well."

In December 2022, Åberg came to Switzerland for the first time, joining the Lakers. The following summer, he was gone again, only to return to Rapperswil a year later. Last January, he moved to Kloten.
