Derek Grant, 35, joined the ZSC Lions in 2023 from the Anaheim Ducks and, with them, has immediately won two back-to-back National League championships and a Champions Hockey League. “Derek is a creative center who can be used in all situations and regularly scores points. His puck management and robustness are among the best in the league," states team manager Sven Leuenberger.
With the extension of Grant, the Lions will have seven imports under contract next season: goalie Šimon Hrubec, defender Mikko Lehtonen, and forwards Juho Lammikko, Rudolfs Balcers, Jesper Frödén, Malte Strömwall (joining from the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers), and Grant.
For his part, Chris Baltisberger is one of the veterans of the team. The homegrown player debuted with ZSC during the 2010-11 season and has only ever played in the organization of the Lions. The 34-year-old has won five championships with the club from Zurich.
This season, Grant scored ten goals and collected 13 assists in 26 games, while Baltisberger put up 13 points (seven goals) in 46 appearances.
