EHC Biel's Martin Steinegger sat down with "Blick" to discuss certain players. The team manager announced a few departures. With the signing of Viktor Östlund (from HC La Chaux-de-Fonds), Luis Janett no longer has a place on the roster. 22-year-old Niko Huuhtanen, added in December, only made ten games with Biel. "Coming to Switzerland as an import at that age is not easy. The expectations were high, and it was too much for him. I underestimated that", Steinegger notes.
Viktor Lööv has been sidelined with a concussion for over a year. His contract is running out and will not be extended, despite the defenseman returning to practice. "For him, it was a small step back toward a normal life", Steinegger states. "But for us, staying is not an option, and I do not even know if he will ever be able to play again."
As for Jere Sallinen, there have been reports about the Finn returning to his home country. However, Steinegger mentions that neither team nor player have turned each other down for next season, so he might also be staying in Biel after all.
