Earlier today, EV Zug announced an extension. Raphael Diaz is staying on board for an additional season, his second after returning from HC Fribourg-Gottéron. In January, the veteran turned 40.
"Raphi has once again impressively demonstrated his value to the team", team manager Reto Kläy states. "This contract extension is therefore doubly important: on the one hand, I am happy for the player, Raphael Diaz; on the other hand, for the entire club. With his wealth of experience, Raphi plays a major role in our rebuilding process, in which we are deliberately focusing on developing young players."
This past season, Diaz only managed to suit up 20 times due to a head injury, still recording one goal and seven assists. It brought his National League games up to 973, with the 1000-mark in an achievable distance.
