National League

The 30-year-old goaltender has activated his option, which would allow him to leave the National League team at the end of the 2025-26 season.

"That doesn't mean I'm going to leave HCD. I feel very comfortable in Davos. But the goaltending situation in the league in 2026 is so special that I just want to keep all my options open," Sandro Aeschlimann tells Klaus Zaugg ("Watson"). Several goaltenders will be at the end of their contracts then, so Aeschlimann would potentially have several options.

Whether he will actually leave HC Davos is not yet clear, but he will have to make a decision during the season, as the team will also have to plan their next moves in case he leaves. According to Zaugg, there is certainly one interested party: SC Bern. The Bears are supposedly trying to lure Aeschlimann to the capital city.

Aeschlimann's contract would originally have been valid until 2027. The goaltender appeared in 34 regular-season games for HC Davos, posting a .917 save percentage.
