The 22-year-old forward's original deal would have expired at the end of the 2022-23 season.
HC Fribourg-Gottéron announced on Instagram that Sandro Schmid, who is a product of their organization, would stay with the team until the end of the 2024-25 season.
Last season, the forward appeared in 50 regular-season games for the Dragons, recording nine goals and 18 assists. He also put up two goals and one assist in nine postseason games.
