SC Bern is looking for a goaltender for the 2026-27 season and is interested in 29-year-old Connor Hughes. According to Zaugg, Lausanne HC would be willing to trade the goaltender, whose contract is valid until 2031, to SC Bern in exchange for Romain Loeffel and an additional, yet-to-be-named forward.

Upon request, SCB's Head of Sport Martin Plüss, team manager Diego Piceci, and player's agent Gaëtan Voisard confirmed that talks regarding this matter are ongoing. Voisard is Kevin Pasche's as well as Romain Loeffel's agent. As Hughes is in direct competition with Pasche, it would thus be in Voisard's interest if Hughes were transferred out of Lausanne.

Piceci also confirmed to "hockeyfans.ch" that they are planning with Christof von Burg next season: "Christof von Burg will definitely be in Bern next season, either on the ice or as a backup goaltender." The 25-year-old netminder is under contract with SC Bern and is currently playing for HC Thurgau via B-license.

Hughes has appeared in 19 games for LHC this season, posting a .915 save percentage. Loeffel, for his part, put up 14 points (two goals) in 22 games. Von Burg has suited up 15 times for HC Thurgau, posting a .957 save percentage.
