With the acquisition of Jimmy Vesey, Genève-Servette HC completes its offense with an experienced player who spent his entire pro career - nine seasons - in the NHL. Most recently, Vesey suited up for the Colorado Avalanche, which acquired him in a trade with the New York Rangers in March. GSHC now has six import forwards and one defender under contract for the upcoming season.
Marc Gautschi, team manager of the Eagles, describes Vesey as a smart and complete player: "Thanks to his excellent hockey IQ and his very reliable two-way play, he can be used in all situations and at key moments. In addition, with his immense experience, he will be an important leader in the locker room."
For his part, Vesey is thrilled to be playing for Geneva in the National League: "I've heard nothing but praise, not only about Switzerland, but also about the city and the organization. It's great to be part of such a strong team, and I can't wait to see what we can accomplish this season and beyond. Our goal is to get back to the top of the league, and I can't wait to get started."
Jimmy Vesey was drafted by the Nashville Predators in 2012 and then spent four years at Harvard University in the NCAA, receiving the Hobey Baker award for NCAA Top Collegiate Player in 2016. After that, he started his pro career with the Rangers. Between the two stints with the Rangers (2016-19 and 2022-25), Vesey dressed up for the Buffalo Sabres, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Vancouver Canucks, and the New Jersey Devils, totalling 203 points in 657 games.
