As already reported by "Watson"'s Klaus Zaugg yesterday, EHC Kloten is seeing a change in position of head coach. Starting Monday, Stefan Mair will replace Larry Mitchell behind the bench, as the club announced today.
Mair joins from HC Ambì-Piotta, where he was leading the U20 squad. It will not be the first rodeo in Swiss men's hockey for the 56-year-old Italian, he was HC Thurgau's head coach from 2016 until 2022.
"We have always emphasized that we are actively looking for a head coach to end the burden of the dual mandate", Kloten's CEO Anjo Urner notes. "Larry Mitchell was involved in the succession planning for the head coach - together with the Board of Directors, experts from the organization, and myself."
Besides the new head coach, Kloten has also acquired a new B-licence. Once his season with Thurgau is over, Hunter Garlent will reinforce the National League team. The Canadian has recorded 14 goals and 22 assists in 41 games so far in the Swiss League.
