The 38-year-old captain of EHC Kloten will reach that milestone in the play-in game against the SCL Tigers on Thursday.
Steve Kellenberger is a product of EHC Kloten's organization and, except for two seasons with EHC Biel, has only ever played for Kloten throughout his career. Kellenberger made his National League debut in the 2005-06 season.
The captain will be honored by his team ahead of Thursday's play-in game. Kellenberger has appeared in 999 National and Swiss League up to now, recording over 80 goals and over 180 assists.
