As it has become common, highly lauded players seem to settle their future the summer before their contract runs out. Ludovic Waeber is no different in that regard. Still a member of EHC Kloten until next spring, he has signed a new four-year deal with HC Fribourg-Gottéron.
"We are very pleased to have signed Ludovic Waeber", the Dragons' team manager Gerd Zenhäusern states. "He is talented, ambitious, a perfectionist, very popular within the team, and fits perfectly with the club's philosophy."
Consequently, veteran Reto Berra will play his last season with Fribourg. As Zenhäusern confirms to "Radio Fribourg", the expiring contract of the 38-year-old goalie will not be extended.
Waeber grew up playing in Fribourg's youth department and made his debut with the National League team in 2017-18. In 2020, he embarked on a journey that took him to the ZSC Lions, the AHL, Kloten, and will now lead back to his former home.
