The ZSC Lions have decided to keep two players who originated from their junior organization for the long term: Willy Riedi will remain in Zurich until at least 2029, while Justin Sigrist will stay until 2030. Both have always played for the Lions organization, first for GCK and now for ZSC.
Riedi, 27, is described as a power forward: “Willy is in his prime hockey age. We are convinced that he can build on his playoff performances in the spring in terms of physicality and production,” states team manager Sven Leuenberger.
For his part, Sigrist, 26, is described as a hard worker: “Justin is very valuable to us with his exemplary attitude and defensive qualities, including box play. With us, he can continue to develop and, for example, blossom even more on offense,” explains Leuenberger.
Last season, both players contributed to the Swiss championship through their performances: Riedi put up twelve points in 47 regular-season games, and eight points (five goals) in 16 playoff games, while Sigrist recorded ten points in the regular season and six in the playoffs.
