Whereas the signing of SC Bern's Jan Neuenschwander had been anticipated by Klaus Zaugg ("Watson"), the deal with Oskars Lapinskis is fresh news. Lapinskis, a Latvian with a Swiss player's license, is a product of the SCL Tigers' organization, which he joined in 2016 as a 14-year-old. Lapinskis was inked to a one-year rookie contract with an option for an additional season. This season, he already suited up 20 times with the Tigers.
For his part, Neuenschwander has signed a one-year contract. "Jan Neuenschwander will bring us stability with his skills and commitment in our own defensive zone and also in shorthanded situations" comments team manager Marc Eichmann on the signing of the 29-year-old. As for the ZSC Lions' Marc Aeschlimann, who was also linked to the Tigers by Klaus Zaugg, the club does not mention him in the press release.
On a side note, the club also informs that Joel Salzgeber underwent successful surgery last week for hip impingement. The 21-year-old forward should be back in full action for the start of the season.
