A rumor from the beginning of the year has now been confirmed - Sam Hallam will become the head coach of Genève-Servette HC, starting next summer. It will mark the Swede's return to club hockey after having coached his country's national team for four years.
"Sam's arrival for next season is excellent news for us", team manager Marc Gautschi states. "We are convinced that, thanks to his extensive experience and technical and social skills, he will be able to take the club forward. This early announcement clarifies the situation regarding the coaching position, which is very important for squad planning and the vision for next season."
With Sweden, Hallam won the bronze medal at the last two World Championships. Prior to that, while still part of the Växjö Lakers, he collected three SHL titles over a ten-year span with them and secured the Coach of the Year award twice.
For the remainder of the current season, Ville Peltonen will stay on as head coach with Genève-Servette.
