A decision on Kyle Rau's future has not been made, but according to the "Freiburger Nachrichten", it appears the American forward is more likely to stay than to leave. "We are discussing it, no decision has been made yet. But the trend is positive, it looks like he will stay until the end of the season," Gerd Zenhäusern, team manager of HC Fribourg-Gottéron, said.

Rau has been with the Dragons since November 2025. In eleven games, he has recorded one goal and three assists.

In other news, Gerd Zenhäusern confirmed at the pre-game presser on Tuesday that off-ice coach Simon Holdener would not receive a contract extension from the team. As Holdener tells the "Freiburger Nachrichten", he has already received an offer from the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation to work as an athletic coach for the junior national teams. Whether he will take it, remains to be seen, though.
