His contract with KH Poprad from the Slovak Tipos Extraliga just recently dissolved, Teemu Pulkkinen has found a new home for the remainder of the season. The 33-year-old is joining HC La Chaux-de-Fonds for their Swiss League playoff battle.
"With his high-level experience and precise, powerful shot, Teemu Pulkkinen will bring real added value to our offense", team manager Loïc Burkhalter states. "We cannot wait to see him in action during the playoffs!"
Pulkkinen spent most of his junior time within Jokerit's organization and made his debut with the men's team - when they were still part of the Liiga - during the 2008-09 season. In 2010, he was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings and eventually went overseas three years later.
In 2018, after 83 games in the NHL and 284 in the AHL, the Finn embarked on a tour through the KHL before joining the DEL's Schwenninger Wild Wings last summer and eventually Poprad in December.
On a small side note, it will not be Pulkkinen's first time in Switzerland - he had a brief stint with Lausanne HC on a tryout basis during the 2019 preseason.
