Evgenï Chiriaev requested to be released from his current contract due to personal reasons. EHC Visp granted his request. "I would like to inform you that I will be leaving EHC Visp. This decision is based on an urgent need to move closer to our families and is therefore purely private," Chiriaev said in a statement released by the club.
It is not yet clear whether the forward will continue his career elsewhere or retire from professional hockey. The 34-year-old would have had one year left on his contract with EHC Visp. He joined the team in 2021. This season, he appeared in 22 regular-season games and 10 postseason games for the Swiss League team.
