The 23-year-old defender moves about 50 kilometers southeast from Basel to join league rivals EHC Olten.

Finnish defenseman Aaro Törmänen, son of Antti Törmänen, possesses a Swiss player's license and has been playing in the Swiss League since the 2020-21 season. EHC Olten will be his seventh team in the Swiss League in just six years, having been loaned around a few times.

"Aaro is a smart player with defensive strengths. He's a good puck mover, blocks shots, communicates well with teammates, and I also like his use of the stick in the defensive zone. I think our efficiency in the game without the puck will also benefit from him," says team manager Thomas Roost.

This season, Törmänen recorded seven points in 39 regular-season games with EHC Basel and then also appeared in 14 playoff games (zero points).
