GCK Lions announce several contract extensions and sign Fabian Eggenberger

The GCK Lions have signed Fabian Eggenberger. The 25-year-old defenseman joins the Lions from EHC Chur and has agreed to a one-year deal. Furthermore, defensemen Filippo Schmidt and Noel Ulrich as well as forwards Luan Marthaler, Lauro Peter, Fabrice Bouvard and Lionel Dedial have been promoted from GSCK's U21 team to the Swiss League team.

“Filippo Schmidt and Noel Ulrich are two talented defensemen with strong ambitions to establish themselves on our team and take the next step. Luan Marthaler, Lauro Peter, Fabrice Bouvard, and Lionel Dedial are all forwards with great potential, some of whom were already part of our extended roster last season,” explains GCK team manager Patrick Hager. 

Defensemen Victor Oejdemark, Nauris Sejejs, and Yann Voegeli, as well as forwards Noah Greuter, Noam Holzer, Julian Mettler, Jan Neuenschwander, Yannik Ponzetto, and Jan Spring, have each extended their contracts by one year. The same applies to Swedish forward Villiam Haag.

Finnish player Jarno Kärki is leaving the Lions after four years. In addition to Kärki, Luca Cunti (retirement), Christian Pinana (HC La Chaux-de-Fonds), Noel Berner (EHC Dübendorf), as well as Gian Morson and Marvin Rötheli (both EHC Arosa) are also leaving the club. Kimo Gruber and Endo Meier are new additions to the ZSC Lions’ roster. 

On the bench, the Lions are focusing on continuity. The contracts of head coach Peter Andersson and his assistant Mark Bastl have each been extended by one year. Andreas Lilja is joining the coaching staff as an assistant coach; he previously served as an assistant with the ZSC Lions. “With Andreas Lilja, we’re adding a defenseman specialist to our coaching staff, which will also allow for even more individualized player support,” says team manager Hager.
