HC Sierre, the leader of the Swiss League and finalists of the Swiss Cup, will continue to be coached by Chris McSorley in the 2026-27 season. The Canadian 63-year-old, who is also team manager and chairman of the board of HC Sierre, has been involved in the club since the 2023-24 season and will have the job to drive the club's ambition of promotion to the National League.
"This club and the entire Sierre region mean the world to my family and me. To have this opportunity to continue leading this incredible group of young men is a privilege. I am looking forward to working with the same passion and dedication every single day to make all of you proud and to achieve our objective, the promotion to the National League," states Chris McSorley.
Additionally, HC Sierre also announces a new three-year deal with Canadian forward Samuel Asselin, binding him until 2029. The 27-year-old from Quebec is in his second season with the Valaisans, having joined them in 2024 after four years in the AHL.
Asselin is currently leading the whole Swiss League in points and assists by quite a wide margin: with 21 goals and 50 assists, he has collected 11 more points than EHC Olten's Asselin, Guillaume.
