Sidelined due to a concussion since December, Silvio Schmutz will soon be putting an end to his career in hockey. Health reasons have led to this decision, his current club HC Thurgau notes. It is not even sure the 27-year-old will be able to suit up again this season.
Schmutz made his first steps in men's hockey ten years ago with EHC Seewen, when he was a member of EV Zug's youth department. His debut in the National League came during the 2015-16 season with HC Davos. After not suiting up for the next two years, the defender joined EHC Winterthur in 2018, before finding his way - with a stop at EHC Basel - to Thurgau.
