At the club's end-of-the-season press conference, Marc Thommen explained his words after the out in playoffs.

swisshockeynews.ch

A week after stating that voluntary relegation would be discussed at their next meeting, Marc Thommen's statement is softer. "We will of course be participating in the Swiss League Championship in the coming season", the head of EHC Olten's administrative board is cited by the "Oltner Tagblatt".

The board has been discussing the subject for months. "It is not as if it was a spontaneous idea because we were eliminated from the playoffs", Thommen states. "I stand behind my statements. It pains me to see where Swiss hockey is heading, especially the Swiss League."

Swiss Ice Hockey intends to form a task force with all the relevant parties involved to work out possible solutions for the issues plaguing the sport. Thommen expects the first results by summer. Based on those, Olten's administrative board will decide whether the 2024-25 season will be their last in the Swiss League.
