The 2023-24 season could be closed without a loss thanks to financial contributions from the main shareholder and chairman of the board, Rolf Löhrer. The operating loss of EHC Winterthur Sport AG amounted to around three-quarters of a million francs.
A capital cut will now be proposed at the next general meeting. The existing share capital is to be reduced to zero and increased to 500,000 francs by issuing 1,000 new registered shares. To ensure liquidity, the purchase price per share is set at 1,000 francs (nominal value 500 francs plus premium 500 francs per share).
Board President Rolf Löhrer knows that the cut is painful for existing shareholders but hopes that they can understand: "The restructuring of the company is an important part of the medium and long-term future of EHC Winterthur in the Swiss League."
