Swiss League

Coming season, the club's main men's team will compete in the MyHockey League instead of the Swiss League.

swisshockeynews.ch

As EHC Winterthur announces, they have made the decision to withdraw their main men's squad from the Swiss League coming season. Instead, they will play a step below, in the MyHockey League.

Reasons for this are generally of a financial nature. A yearly deficit of CHF 750,000.- and a needed budget increase to keep competitive with the other teams is not feasible for them without additional sponsors or investors, which they have not found. Improvements regarding the general conditions for Swiss League teams from the SIHF's side would not be coming on time for Winterthur.

The goal for the current season is still to make the playoffs. Over the course of the next few days, the club will be talking to its employees and players to shape the future.
