The Saginaw Spirit, Rodwin Dionicio's team, defeated the London Knights 4-3 and thus won their first-ever Memorial Cup.
The Knights had previously defeated them in the tournament's round-robin finale on Wednesday. They moved directly to the final, whereas the Spirit had to go through the Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday to earn their spot in the final.
The final was quite close, even though the Spirit put more pucks on the net than their opponent. Only 21 seconds before the end were they able to secure their victory and ensure their first Memorial Cup in their team's history.
