Florida Panthers and Akira Schmid agree on a new deal

"We are excited to sign Akira for the next two seasons in South Florida," said the Florida Panthers President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Zito. "He has the size, athleticism and competitive drive that fits the identity of the Florida Panthers, and we're looking forward to watching him succeed with our group.” 

The 26-year-old appeared in 34 regular-season games for the Vegas Golden Knights last season, posting a .893 save percentage. While he was part of the team that qualified for the Stanley Cup Final, he did not play in the postseason.
