The captain of the New Jersey Devils had been out of the lineup since the end of October.
In his first game back, Nico Hischier logged 14:55 minutes of play and recorded one goal and one assist. The Devils eventually won the game against the Buffalo Sabres 2-7.
As for fellow Swiss forward Timo Meier, he is not yet ready to return to the lineup. He did skate at yesterday's limited skate, but, according to team reporter Amanda Stein, did more shooting than skating.
