According to Aaron Portzline (The Athletic), the 23-year-old defenseman will partake in CBJ's main camp despite no valid contract.
The restricted free agent had decided to reject the Blue Jackets qualifying offer. The NHL team currently has only two spots left as they are almost at the limit of 50 contracts. Berni will have to fight against several other players who have signed a PTO contract with CBJ.
Last season, Tim Berni, who was drafted by the Blue Jackets in 2018, appeared in 59 regular-season games for Columbus, recording one goal and two assists.
