After his definite departure from the ZSC Lions was announced three days ago, Puis Suter has been signed to a one-year contract by the Chicago Blackhawks. His salary cap hit will be $925,000.

The Hawks were one of the most-mentioned candidates to land the 24-year-old after it became clear that he wanted to try his luck in the NHL. As Chris Johnston (Sportsnet) writes, nine teams were interested in Suter's services.

Pius Suter joined the Lions' organization during the later stages of his junior time. He then went on to play for the Guelph Storm in the OHL from 2013 until 2015 before returning to Zurich. From that point onwards, he predominantly suited up for the Lions' main squad, making 244 games in the National League, recording 90 goals and 93 assists. Last season, he lead the league in goals (30) and points (53).
