Roman Josi voted to the 2023-24 NHL First All-Star Team

It was a night of awards last night, and among the people honored was a little bit of Switzerland thanks to Roman Josi's presence on the first all-star team as one of the two best defenders of the season. The other players selected are goalie Connor Hellebuyck, defender Quinn Hughes, and forwards Nathan MacKinnon, Artemi Panarin, and Nikita Kucherov.

Josi's performance - which included 23 goals and 62 assists in 82 games - was however not enough to win the James Norris Trophy for best defender, which went to Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks. Hughes led the NHL defenders in points and assists with 92 and respectively 75. Josi finished second in voting with 1207 points while Hughes received 1864 points.

For his part, Austrian forward Marco Rossi (Minnesota Wild) was selected into the 2023-24 NHL All-Rookie Team. The 22-year-old played junior hockey in Switzerland from 2012 to 2018, first in Rheintal and then in the GCK/ZSC Lions' organization. Rossi collected 40 points (21 goals) in his first full season in the NHL.
