According to Klaus Zaugg (Watson), SC Bern asked EV Zug if the transfer of defenseman Nic Balestra could be moved up. As Zaugg writes, this request was denied. He speculates, however, that Balestra could be released from his current deal at a later date. The reason for this is that Balestra currently has no prospects on the ice with EVZ.
According to the report, another option could be a loan to the Swiss League to gain playing experience. There, EHC Visp is looking for a defenseman following the long-term absence of Oliver Heinen. Sébastien Pico, CEO of EHC Visp, confirmed his interest to Zaugg: “Yes, we’re trying to acquire Nic Balestra. I can’t say more than that.”
The 21-year-old defenseman has yet to play a single regular-season game for EV Zug this season.
