Since the 1984-85 season, the Guldhjälmen (gold helmet) has been presented every year to the most valuable player in the SHL, the highest men's league in Sweden. This season, the award was introduced also in the SDHL, the main women's league, making Lara Stalder the first woman to win it.

Stalder dominated the league, scoring 42 goals and collecting 29 assists, for a total of 71 points, setting club records for both goals and points in a season. The 25-year-old then recorded eight points in the playoffs, which, however, ended in the semi-finals.
