Lena-Marie Lutz has decided to retire

"To find my spark and myself again, I had to close the biggest chapter of my life. Hockey is all I knew. Everything I ever did was built around the sport I once loved so much. I’m not the person who shares a lot of what is really going on inside my head. I can tell you one thing tho [sic]: as much fun as I had, I suffered a whole lot," Lena-Marie Lutz shares in an emotional message on her Instagram. 

The forward played her first games on the highest Swiss level over a decade ago for the SC Reinach Damen. She suited up for EV Bomo Thun, the HC Thurgau Indien Ladies, HC Lugano, EV Zug and last season for the HCAP Girls, ending the regular season (tied with Lara Stalder and Estelle Duvin) as the best goalscorer of the Women's League.

Lutz participated in three World Championships and was part of two Olympic tournaments. She was also part of the bronze-winning team of Milano. While she was never part of a championship-winning team at the highest level, she won the National Cup twice: once with Lugano and once with Zug.
