Women's Worlds

The U18 has done what many other Swiss national selections have achieved beforehand - losing to Sweden in an elimination game.

Earlier today, the Swiss U18 women's national team faced off against Sweden. It was going to be a hard game from the very start, with Switzerland in the role of the underdog. While they managed to keep the first period scoreless, the shots were heavily in favor of Sweden.

Half a minute into the second period, Switzerland was called for the first penalty of the game, and things started to go south. Edit Danielsson put Sweden up by one on the powerplay. Six minutes later, Linn Mattsson doubled her country's lead, and, at the halfway point of the game, Ebba Hesselvall made it 3-0, on Sweden's second powerplay.

Going into the third period, hope for a comeback was seemingly crushed when Moa Johannesson put her colors up by four about two minutes in. However, only six seconds later, Laelia Huwyler marked Switzerland's first goal of the game. It would unfortunately end up being the only one, as the Swiss ladies put up a fight but were unable to close the gap.  Thus, the game ended with a score of 4-1 for Sweden.
