James Sheppard, who played for EHC Kloten last season, has indeed signed a professional tryout contract with the Vancouver Canucks.

Their general manager Jim Benning has confirmed the signing, as Ben Kuzma (The Province) writes. The 28-year-old Canadian forward will thus have the opportunity to participate in the Canucks' training camp and to earn an NHL contract.

Sheppard, a 2006 first-round draft pick, joined EHC Kloten in October of 2015 and played 41 games for them, scoring twelve goals and 14 assists for a total of 26 points.
