NLA/NLB - According to Sportinformation, the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation is looking to limit the amount of times a player can be transferred in one season. Furthermore, they also want to add some new criteria for the NLB in the assembly on February 11.

The new proposal regarding transfers would only see one transfer within the NLA and the NLB in a season for the same player. This would not apply to farm teams - like the GCK Lions - and B-licenses. It would also be prohibited to undermine the rule with a detour through the Regio League.

Furthermore, they would also like to extend the break between periods from 15 to 18 minutes in order to be able to sell more beverages and food in the break. However, this is only possible in the NLB, as the NLA needs to honour their TV contract.

As for the NLB, the SIHF is looking to add some new criteria to the NLB regarding the promotion of Regio League teams and the building of farm teams. The new rule proposes that every team within the Regio League (e.g. a third league team) would be able to join the NLB, if they fulfil the sportive, administrative and economic criteria as well as things regarding the infrastructure. They also need to be constituted as a joint-stock company.

Furthermore, NLB teams are supposed to be able to join the NLB with immediate effect as farm teams for an NLA team. The NLA club has to be in the possession of 51 percent of the shares. This would also apply for the new team that is planned in Herisau. Lastly, no NLB team is supposed to be relegated until the the 2019-20 season. (mso)
