In December, the Neue Zürcher Zeitung wrote that there seems to be no suitable alternative for Gerber. In addition, the 41-year-old goaltender already stated that he is indeed willing to play for another season.

The Flyers orginally intended that Gerber could help develop young goaltender Luca Boltshauser this season. However, the latter suffered a severe shoulder injury in the pre-season. Gerber seems to be willing to implement these plans next term.

As the Schweiz am Sonntag also writes, Gerber talked to the SCL Tigers' team manager Jörg Reber as well. However, they did not discuss a possible return to Langnau but options after Gerber's retirement from professional hockey. It is indeed his plan to become a coach one day. (bsc)
