SC Bern already confirmed in May that Näykki would not return to the capital city due to family reasons. Since then, the Bears have been looking for a replacement.
Tuononen has been a goaltending coach since 2006. From 2010 on, the 51-year-old worked as Tappara Tampere's goaltending coach as well as their team manager.
