Regarding the finances, Fribourg-Gottéron finished the 2018-19 season with a slight loss of CHF 83,000.-, which is mainly explained by the missed playoff participation as well as their unprofitable "SportsCafé Romont" at the BCF Arena.

In addition to Waeber, the setting of the remaining part of the board of directors, including Slava Bykov, Yvan Haymoz, Philippe Henguely, Sébastien Dorthe, Pascal Gross, Stéphane Schlaeppy, was unanimously approved by the shareholders, too.

In an interview with La Liberté, Waeber recently revealed his ambitions with HCFG: "In a few years' time, we should be able to offer two to three million more to the team manager than today. This money should not be used to increase current salaries, but to attract stronger players."

Waeber's vision mainly relies on the increased revenue the new arena will and could generate for the team. They do, for example, also expect marketing revenue to increase from CHF 7.5 million (about half of today's budget) to CHF 10 million once the works on the new arena are completed and hope to gain new sponsors.
