According to the Freiburger Nachrichten, all three will have to leave the club at the end of the current season. "Forrer, for his part, is struggling with injuries," HC Fribourg-Gottéron's team manager Christian Dubé explains. "And as for Gähler, I'm more likely to be looking for a young player for his role." According to earlier media reports, Aurélien Marti is set to join HC Lugano next season.

With currently seven defenders under contract for next season, Gottéron wants two more. One spot is reserved for youngster David Aebischer, who might return to Switzerland next season. "We would absolutely like to have him on our team," Dubé says. Still open is the future of Ralph Stalder, who wants to wait with his decision until the end of the season due to family reasons.

Next season, there will be definitely two new faces in Fribourg's defense: Up to this point, they have already signed Dave Sutter (ZSC Lions) and Benoît Jecker (HC Lugano) to two-year deals.
