A month in advance, the third and final phase of renovation work at the Eisstadion began, the Südostschweiz reports.

HC Davos is focussing on the consequences of the canceled season.

Following the interruption of the tourist winter season due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the municipality of Davos lifted the construction ban, which normally applies until Easter. Nonetheless, despite the early start, HC Davos will still have to play several road games at the beginning of the upcoming season as the last phase of the three-year renovation period is expected to be completed by the end of November.

Talking about finances, the newspaper also reports that HC Davos is currently examining whether it makes sense to apply for an interest-free loan of up to half a million Swiss francs provided by the federal government. Moreover, the club has applied to the canton for short-term work compensation for all employees, including the players. However, the authorities have yet to respond to the application.

Nevertheless, only if the players agree to a reduction in their salary is short-term work possible at all. As defenseman Félicien Du Bois made it clear in the Tagesanzeiger a couple of days ago, such a step would, however, have to be well justified.
