The NHL star will play in Davos at a bargain price until the new season in North America starts.

As Waton's Klaus Zaugg explains, the 41-year-old has a unique relationship with HC Davos and therefore has been very understanding about the club's investment freeze due to the ongoing pandemic. The club will pay for Thornton's expenses, but not he'll not receive a salary for the moment. If the budget allows it, Thornton might receive a humble compensation next year.

Having earned around 110 million dollars during his 23-year-long career, the forward certainly does not need of HCD's money and has stated that he doesn't mind if he's reimbursed a year or two later.
