According to La Liberté, going abroad is no longer an option for the 29-year-old forward.

Tristan Scherwey told Cyrill Pasche of Sport-Center back in May that he really hopes to receive an opportunity to play in the NHL in the 2020-21 season. He already got a taste of it in 2019 with the Ottawa Senators.

Scherwey would have had an out clause in his contract with the Bears, but opting out is no longer an option for the forward. Given the NHL's late start and the ongoing pandemic and the even later start of the AHL, it would have also been difficult for the forward to even get a chance to try out for an NHL team.
