As HC Davos' CEO Marc Gianola confirmed to Roman Michel (Südostschweiz), Alston was in Davos already and had talks with the management there.

Alston was the team manager of Lausanne HC for nine seasons, until being ousted in February of 2020. He played his last professional season in 2010-11 in Lausanne and took the management job immediately after retiring.
