The 37-year-old Czech will remain in the hockey business, though. He is set to work as a player's agent for GMG Sport Management.

As Jiří Novotný tells iSport.cz, the thought of retirement already occurred to him at the end of the season, but he wanted to be sure that it is what he wanted. His new career on the management side of things will also see him work in Switzerland: "I have obtained a license for the Swiss market where I will operate."

Novotný has been part of HC Ambrì-Piotta's organization since September 2018 when he joined them from HC Plzen on a two-month contract. Last season, he recorded four goals and eleven assists in 46 games.
