There were talks regarding Phil Varone during the international break, as Blick reported earlier today. Three teams showed interest in Lausanne HC's import, with SC Bern being the one to come out on top in the end. The Canadian will thus leave the Lions and join the Bears for the remainder of the season.

In Bern, Varone will help with the current import injury troubles SCB is having. Both Kaspars Daugaviņš (arm) and Dustin Jeffrey (shoulder) are sidelined for quite some time.

Back in October, there reportedly already were negotiations between Lausanne and HC Ajoie about a potential deal involving Varone, but those did not lead to anything it appears.

During his first season in Switzerland so far, the 30-year-old has recorded two goals and five assists in 13 games. If all goes according to plan, he will be eligible to make his 14th appearance this Friday when Bern faces the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers.
