The 38-year-old goaltender will be at the end of his contract with EHC Olten in spring. Apparently, EHC Biel would like him to return to the Seeland.

"Yes, it is true. I am in talks with Martin Steinegger," Simon Rytz tells Klaus Zaugg (Watson). "He wants to bring me to Biel as number two [goaltender]." He still needs to discuss things with his family but wants to make a decision soon.

Rytz played for EHC Biel during his junior hockey days as well as from 2013 to 2017. He thus knows the organization well. If he were to sign with the Seelanders, he would thus support EHC Biel's number one goaltender, Joren van Pottelberghe.

The goaltender has appeared in 20 games for EHC Olten this season, posting a .951 save percentage. He also suited up for the SCL Tigers for one game, posting a .897 save percentage.
